The Columbus Pay Transparency Initiative

Championed by Council Member Lourdes Barroso de Padilla, requires employers to include salary ranges in job postings. Passed November 3, 2025, it takes effect after a standard delay but won't be enforced until January 1, 2027, giving HR teams time to comply. It builds on Columbus's 2023 salary-history ban, aiming to close pay gaps for women, people of color, and immigrants — women currently earn 83 cents per dollar earned by men. With Cleveland, Cincinnati, and Toledo already ahead on similar laws, Columbus sees this as key to staying competitive for talent, while also offering support to help small businesses and nonprofits highlight non-salary benefits.
